Jiufen, Taiwan

September 4, 2012 Blog

Stepping off the bus into the bussle of Jiufen is much like stepping through the wardrobe into Narnia. The fantasy begins with the clash of two different worlds; new and old. Shops selling hand crafted trinkets are among those selling candies and electronics. You can walk for half a mile underneath awnings sheltering you from the tropical, seaside climate which brings constant drizzle. Since I was with my friends who are locals, I had the delight of trying some iced vegetable dish which they called dessert. It included yams and beans among other thing, chilled in ice. Incredibly strange.
